My Statement of Values

Cristen Iris

As Marc Zicree says, "Your career will be defined by two poles: what you stand for and what you won't stand for."

I hope that my body of work communicates to the world what I value, but I also believe that it's important to codify and share upfront my values and how they guide my business.

To that end, this is my statement of values:

I am an inclusive editor and book collaborator and a proponent of civil discourse.

I do not discriminate based on race, ethnicity, country of origin, age, marital status, disability, religious or political affiliation, gender identity, or sexual orientation in any of my activities or operations and will not contract with any author or vendor who demonstrates a disregard for the dignity, safety, and overall well-being of any other person or group.

When working with clients, we agree that without intellectual integrity and respect for human dignity, our work has little value. Therefore, we place the wellbeing and education of readers in the forefront of our minds and agree to focus our efforts on providing maximum value to them.

What do you stand for? What won't you stand for?

Have you made a public statement of your values?

If you haven't articulated what you stand for and what you won't, I encourage you to do so. It's empowering and can change the course of your life and business for the better because you'll attract the right people and repel those who aren't a good fit.
